Jon Bon Jovi is grieving the loss of his mother and celebrating her life.

Carol Bongiovi passed away on Tuesday at Monmouth Medical Center in Long Branch, New Jersey, just three days shy of

her 84th birthday.

“Our mother was an indomitable presence,” Bon Jovi stated on behalf of his family. “Her vibrant spirit and steadfast

determination profoundly influenced our family. Her absence will be deeply felt.”

Carol was not only the founder of her son’s band’s fan club, but also a savvy entrepreneur who ran multiple businesses. Born

in Erie, Pennsylvania, and a former Playboy bunny, she joined the U.S. Marine Corps in 1959.

It was there she honorably served her country and met her husband-to-be, John Bongiovi, Sr.

The couple eventually settled in Sayreville, N.J., where they raised their family, and later moved to Holmdel, N.J., where she

lived until her passing.

In a November 2020 interview with The Big Issue, Bon Jovi attributed his success to his parents, saying they gave him “the

ability to make the dream reality.”
