Céline Dion has returned to the stage for the first time in over a year, performing at the Paris 2024
Olympics opening ceremony.
Dion delivered a rendition of Edith Piaf’s “Hymne à l’amour” atop an observation deck of the Eiffel
Tower, marking the ceremony’s conclusion just after the cauldron was lit on Friday.
In December 2022, Dion disclosed her diagnosis with stiff-person syndrome, a rare neurological condition that leads to muscle rigidity and greatly hampers her singing ability.
This struggle was documented in the recent film “I am: Celine Dion.”
Despite the challenges, the singer has pledged to continue performing, stating she would do so “even if I have to crawl.”
Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau lauded Dion’s performance, referring to her as “a Canadian icon and an incredible talent.”
