Taylor #1, Ends Rapper’s Nearly 20-Year Chart-Topping Streak

Taylor Swift’s album “The Tortured Poets Department” ended Kanye West’s streak of 11 number-one albums, selling 142,000 equivalent album units in the U.S. for the week ending August 8, 2024.

West’s latest release, Vultures 2, sold an estimated 107,000 equivalent album units in its first week, marking a career dip due to a torrent of anti-Semitic remarks since the fall of 2022.

Swift’s album has now spent 14 weeks at the top spot since its release in April, making it her 83rd career week atop the Billboard 200 chart.
