Big Lots To Begin ‘Going Out Of Business’ Sales At All Locations

Big Lots, the discount retailer, is preparing to close all of its stores after a deal to sell its assets fell through.

The company, which operates over 900 locations across the U.S., plans to host “going out of business” sales at all stores.

Big Lots filed for bankruptcy protection in September and had previously announced plans to close hundreds of stores.

The decision to shutter all locations comes amid a challenging retail environment, with many retailers facing closures and bankruptcies.

Big Lots sells furniture, lawn and garden, apparel, health and beauty, and other consumer goods.

U.S. retailers have reported over 7,100 store closures in 2024, a 69% increase from the previous year.
