Hurricane Milton made landfall on Wednesday (October 9) as a Category 3 storm, causing catastrophic damage across Florida with millions left without power and homes.
Milton slammed into Florida’s west coast near Siesta Key. Many parts of Florida are still recovering from Hurricane Helene from less than two weeks ago.
Milton brought a historic storm surge, with some areas along Florida’s west coast receiving 10 to 15 feet of water. The storm spawned over 100 tornadoes and resulted in several fatalities
The Florida Department of Transportation is clearing roadways, and authorities are urging non-residents to avoid traveling to impacted areas. In Marion County, residents are advised to stay off the roads due to debris and downed power lines, while high water rescue teams are deployed in Volusia County.
